Universe Pulse #1:The Signal---Chapter 1

Hello, there. I am Sam Nare, owner of the Nare household. I am a old man now, and I would like to pass down what I know to you. I am about to tell you the secrets of the galaxy, of the world, and the universe. I hope you will listen carefully, because this information will only be held for a couple years. Now, give me $1,000 for the information.
     Come on, gimme, gimme, gimme.
Thank you. Now, let us continue.
It happened a long time ago, when I was 10 years old. I was like any other boy: playing video games, running bases, reading books, and spending time with my family. I first lived in the Big Apple, and all was happy. Then, when our family was up at the top of the Statue of Liberty, when we were peeking out the crown, my father unexpectedly fell into the harbor. Nobody blamed him. Nobody knew why. My mother was so depressed over the sinking that she packed me up to move on the other side of the U.S.. And soon after we moved my mother gave birth to Clide, my younger brother, in a little town in the middle of nowhere, named Chinle, in Arizona.
"Why do we have to stay in the desert, Mommy?" he said, when he went to bed after a couple years of living in our house.
"Because there is no other place to live," said Mother. "And I know what it feels like. I do want to live somewhere else, too, but we have to stay here."
And being bored was the least of our problems. One by one, our neighbors either moved away to a distant country or died. We always attended the funerals, and every time we came back, we wept that night.
