"A----a----a secret-----c--ode!" muttered Mark, then he lied down.
"Oh, no!" said James. "He's hyperventilating! We need a doctor, fast!"
"But we can't contact an ambulance," said Kanm. "We need a phone---"
Everyone turned to Stacy.
She groaned. "I'll have to use all my money to pay for this!"
The ambulance pulled up in their destination and carried Mark a minute later into the emergency room.
A hour later, Mark was lying down in the hospital bed when the nurse told him his diagnosis.
"Your rib cage is shattered," said the nurse. "We can't let you walk for several weeks."
"For several WEEKS?!?" shouted Mark.
The nurse shushed him. "Talking loudly will make it worse."

A day later, the rest of the team spent the day with Mark. They chatted and explored the hospital. Mark was in a special wheelchair when he wanted to go somewhere, of course. Mark was content that his friends were here. But he wanted to tell James something.
"James," he said. "Can I ask you a favor?"
"Sure," said James, walking over to the bedside.
"Could you have the team spend the night here?" asked Mark. "It's allowed, but it has to be my decision to who sleeps here."
"I'll ask the rest of our mates if their interested," agreed James. "I think that they would like it."
"Thanks, bud," said Mark, giving James a hug.
That night, the team lied down for a good night's sleep.
"Thank you for coming," said Mark.
"It's the least that we could do," replied Maci.
But then Kanm shouted, "I think I got it!"
