"You got what?" asked James.
"The code!" he cried. "I solved the CODE!!!! For once it wasn't Mark!"
Mark sighed.
"What was it?" he asked.
"I won't get away with it!" cried Kanm. "Don't be sad! I'm bad at codes, but this one was---different! This is the end, and if this is a jinx...!" as soon as he cried "jinx" he couldn't take it anymore. A millisecond later a streak of energy went hurling out of nowhere---heading straight for Mark! Luckily, the sphere missed him by a centimeter.
"Where did that come from?" pondered James.
But Mark was out of control. He called for the nurse, who came bolting around the hospital to get to him.
"What happened?" she asked, and James told the entire story to the nurse.
"...this hospital is getting a little weird---in a dangerous way," finished James.
"Ummm," the nurse said, "I'll leave you for a moment."
As soon as she left, Maci thought out loud, "Why was she so anxious to leave?"
She groaned. "I better practice my religious beliefs."
Maci began to chant some words under her breath, and suddenly, they felt a strong tug behind them.
They turned around to see a black hole pulling them into a secret cave.
"Stop, Maci, stop!" screamed James.
She stopped, and then she, too, saw the chaos.
Then he remembered Elder Charcol's words, You must have the Code to enter the hidden portal. A second later, he got it! Maci's religious language was the the secret Code to the first portal!
But before he could tell them his solution, him, Mark, Stacy, Maci and Kanm were thrown into the dark tunnel.
He slipped and slid down the dark, invisible pipe, and skidded to a stop on a floating platform in the swirl. And of course, everyone was already there.
"Hey, guys!" exclaimed Mark. "I'm better now!"
"Um..." stammered Stacy. "That's not a monster I see, right, with a creepy logo over his thyroid?"
